DAY 1, Wood River, IL to Sioux Falls, SD. 618 miles
We actually left on time this morning which means 5:30 or zero dark thirty as I like to call it. I can't say I have any complaints about the drive today. Sure, we went 618 miles but it was a pleasant ride as rides go. Traffic wasn't bad going through St. Louis and even Kansas City, MO wasn't bad. If you're interested, we drove Hwy 70 until KC and then headed north on Hwy 29. We stayed on that all the way to Sioux Falls. It was a beautiful day weather wise and was about 82 when we got here.
We got here about 3:30 and decided to drive around and look for the actual "Falls" which was easy when you follow the signs. "Falls Park" was pretty self explanatory. It was a beautiful park and since Don is a parks guy he was impressed by it. We went up in the tower and took some pictures and then walked all around the area and read about the falls and how they were formed which was by a glacier of course.
After our park tour we drove to the downtown area which was really neat. Lots of shops to poke into but we didn't go into anything until we came to the Duluth Trader store which is one of Don's favorite catalogs. We just so happened to go in the door that opened right into the men's department which was good as he was looking for some of their shorts. We had dinner while we were downtown at a cute BBQ place and then found a motel to sleep in.
Tomorrow we head west on I 90 towards Deadwood. Nicki and Brian are delayed another day so we'll hang out in Deadwood until they catch up.

Cool pics, sounds like a good first day. I used to get Gary long t shirts from Deluth Traders
